This month, we’re looking at tecbond 280; a long open-time construction and product assembly adhesive.
Based on up-to-the-minute raw material technology, tecbond 280 has been designed to have a longer working time than other construction adhesives.
This means that, after initial compression, the parts can be adjusted for up to three minutes before the adhesive sets to form an ultra-strong bond. This makes tecbond 280 ideal for applications where the materials may need to be repositioned for a short time after the initial bond is made.
Along with its ample working time, super-strong tecbond 280 provides a solid, yet flexible bond down to temperatures as low as -20°C. This flexibility allows for movement of the materials (for example, thermal expansion of flooring), without compromising the strength of the bond.
The adhesive provides excellent adhesion to wood, metal, glass, ceramics, concrete, and most plastics. Tecbond 280 can be used on difficult-to-bond materials such as heat-sensitive plastics due to its ability to be applied at lower temperatures when using a low melt glue gun (use with a hot melt gun for maximum adhesion).
Tecbond 280 is available in both 12mm sticks and 43mm slugs and, as with all tecbond adhesives, it’s designed to work in tandem with the tec range of corded and cordless bead application glue guns.
With its extremely long shelf life and clean running capabilities, tecbond 280 creates practically zero wastage. It’s non-toxic, doesn’t require any mixing, isn’t messy to apply, and doesn’t need to dry out over a long period of time. Any unused glue left in the applicator can be re-melted and used next time the gun is switched on.
Power Adhesives is dedicated to improving the performance and application of hot melt adhesive systems for users around the world.
