1974 – Established as an importer & supplier
Established in 1974, the company’s founders, the Sweeney family, originally came from the industrial stapling industry, and could see the potential that the new hot melt technology offered. At this early stage, Power was a distributor of industrial hot melt glue guns and adhesives.
1981 – Became a manufacturer
In 1981, the company moved from being an importer and distributor to becoming a manufacturer. This was a major change, and Power soon established its own plant for adhesive production. It was also here that the company began to create its own designs for new applicators.
2005 – Relocated
In early 2005, the company relocated to a larger production and office facility in Basildon, Essex to better accommodate new machinery and adhesive line extensions.
2013 – Extended
This area was consequently extended by an additional 12000 square ft in 2013 to increase production capacity by 60%.
2022 – Bought by Longacre group
Power Adhesives Ltd joins Longacre Group, a long-term investment company focused on sustainable development of quality, UK industrial B2B businesses.
2024 – Launched world’s first biodegradable shaped hot melt
Based on one of the most popular grades in the Tecbond range, the company successfully launched Tecbond 214B, the world’s first fully-certified shaped hot melt adhesive, certified to ASTM6400, EN13432, ASTM D6954, and ASTM D6866 standards.
