Tecbond 23-PR

Tecbond 23 is a multi-purpose product assembly adhesive in a prill format. The adhesive will provide strong and reliable bonds on a number of common construction materials such as ceramics, wood, fabrics, and many plastics such as PVC, polycarbonate, and acrylics (not PP or PE).

The adhesives extended open and working time provide security in the production process, allowing adjustments to be made shortly after initial compression before the final bond is made.

Tecbond 280-PL – construction adhesive built for strength, precision, and speed

In construction, speed, precision, and durability are everything. Whether it’s bonding insulation boards, securing decorative panels, or assembling prefabricated components, every element contributes to the overall success of a project. Yet adhesives are often treated as a last-minute choice, even despite being the very material that holds everything together.

The reality is simple. The wrong adhesive can slow a build, weaken the finish, and jeopardise performance in the long term.

Not all hot melt adhesives are created equal, and when reliability and flexibility are essential, you need a solution that’s purpose-built for the demands of modern construction. Tecbond 280-PL is just that. Formulated using advanced polyolefin chemistry, it has been designed to meet the challenges of working with today’s diverse construction materials. It offers exceptional adhesion to substrates like wood, MDF, foam, plastics, and insulation panels.

Where other adhesives force installers to work at the material’s pace, Tecbond 280-PL gives the user control. Its long open time allows for precise positioning, making it ideal for larger panels, intricate assemblies, or complex layouts that require adjustment before final bonding. Once set, it delivers strong, reliable bonds capable of withstanding the rigours of construction environments.

Backed by over five decades of Power Adhesives’ innovation and technical expertise, Tecbond 280-PL isn’t just another hot melt adhesive, it’s a high-performance construction partner. It’s designed for professionals who understand that a project’s quality depends on more than just visible finishes. It depends on the unseen bonds that ensure everything stays in place, day after day, year after year.

Engineered for construction performance

Tecbond 280-PL is a polyolefin-based hot melt adhesive with a high molten tack and strong adhesion across a wide range of porous and non-porous materials.

The long open time is particularly valuable in applications like wall panel installation, decorative timber cladding, or bonding insulation boards, where the substrate needs to be positioned carefully. Once solidified, the bond is durable, clean, and resistant to creep, ensuring components stay securely in place over the long term.

Unlike solvent-based adhesives, Tecbond 280-PL is 100% solid and solvent-free, which means no VOC emissions, safer handling, and compliance with indoor air quality requirements for sensitive environments such as schools, healthcare facilities, or offices.

Applications where Tecbond 280-PL excels

  • Bonding insulation boards – Ideal for attaching EPS, XPS, PIR, and foam panels to walls, ceilings, or floors without mechanical fixings that can cause cold bridging.
  • Fixing wall panels and cladding – Provides a clean, hidden bond that eliminates the need for visible nails or screws, enhancing the final aesthetic.
  • Fitting trims, skirting boards, and mouldings – Allows for rapid installation with minimal finishing work.
  • Prefabricated assemblies – Speeds up production by allowing fast, strong, and precise bonding of components before they are transported to site.

In all these applications, the adhesive’s flexibility ensures it performs well even in environments that experience expansion, contraction, or vibration.

Saving time without sacrificing quality

In construction, every minute saved can make a difference to deadlines and costs. Tecbond 280-PL allows installers to work quickly and confidently, reducing downtime compared to traditional mechanical fixings or slow-curing adhesives. Its high molten tack means materials grip instantly, while the long open time ensures you can still make adjustments before final bonding.

The result is a streamlined workflow that maintains both speed and precision – a balance that’s difficult to achieve with other adhesive systems.

A sustainably led choice for modern building

While Tecbond 280-PL is built for performance first, it also supports the industry’s move towards safer, cleaner building practices. Being solvent-free and low-emission, it contributes to healthier working environments and helps construction firms meet increasingly strict environmental standards.

As Power Adhesives continues to innovate, the company is also pioneering biodegradable adhesive solutions, having launched the world’s first certified biodegradable hot melt in the Tecbond range. While Tecbond 280-PL itself is not biodegradable, it benefits from the same commitment to sustainability, safety, and technical excellence that defines every Power Adhesives product.

Bulk hot melt adhesives are transforming the construction industry

Conventional bonding materials are being outpaced in the construction industry. With demands for speed and quality in the sector rising, traditional tools may no longer offer the high performance required – and bulk hot melt adhesives are emerging to fill this gap.

At Power Adhesives, we are proud to be at the forefront of this transformation. Our innovative bulk hot melt solutions are specifically designed for the unique challenges of construction applications, resulting in high quality bonds that last.

The bonding revolution

Mechanical fasteners, solvent-based glues, and slower curing adhesives often fall short in today’s fast-paced construction environment. Not only do mechanical fasteners introduce additional weight and complexity, but they also risk compromising the integrity of bonded surfaces. What’s more, they can limit design flexibility as designs may need adapting to hide the fastener.

Solvent-based adhesives enable seamless joins but introduce additional challenges around both health and safety and working times. These formulations release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can contribute to medical issues and require investments in PPE to address, adding further cost and complexity to any project. Furthermore, this period of time known as “flashing-off” can take up to 48 hours in some cases, meaning jobs must be halted to allow the adhesive to fully form the bond.

Bulk hot melt adhesives by contrast offer a unique alternative. Applied in molten form and solidifying almost instantly upon cooling, these formulations deliver rapid, reliable bonds across a vast variety of substrates. This speed of set eliminates lengthy delays associated with traditional adhesives, helping to reduce bottlenecks and enabling construction teams to work more efficiently.

Versatility across construction

The versatility of bulk hot melt adhesives offers another significant benefit for the construction sector. Our Tecbond bulk product range is engineered to bond virtually every building material encountered on site, from timber and hardboard to thermal insulation foams and composites. This makes them ideal for a diverse range of construction applications, including:

  • Interior fixings including wall panels and ceiling tiles that require speed and clean application.
  • Insulation installation that needs secure, gap-free bonds.
  • Securing robust connections between electrical equipment while maintaining safety and longevity.

Driving efficiency

The rapid setting speed of bulk hot melt adhesives translates directly into both substantial cost and time savings. Their fast application and setting speeds results in less downtime and faster project completion, and they can be applied quickly and cleanly without risking damaging underlying materials, meaning less need for repairs.

Bulk hot melt adhesives are designed for high volume use, making them particularly cost-effective for large scale projects. Supplied in forms including pillows, prills, and pellets, they can be dispensed with precision equipment for consistent application, reducing material waste and optimising coverage for long-lasting bonds, further reducing overall project costs.

Built with the environment in mind

With the growing emphasis on sustainability across industries including construction, our bulk hot melt adhesives provide a more environmentally responsible solution. These products are free from solvents and VOCs, reducing the risk of health conditions from exposure as well as the associated impact on the environment.

Casttec 44

Casttec 44 is an off-white, long open time precast adhesive designed to withstand repeated pour cycles without needing to be replaced. Casttec 44 has been specifically formulated to bond the most difficult materials including polypropylene, polyethylene, and light foam-work. Additionally, this grade has the ability to be applied via spray or bead.

Replacing the need for welding or bolting inserts to precast forms, Casttec 44 provides a less destructive, cost-saving alternative for precast concrete manufacturers.

Casttec 44 will begin to crystalise after around 8–10 hours, allowing for easy removal beyond the 24–48-hour period. Along with Casttec 43, Casttec 44 has the longest open time of any Casttec adhesive, allowing it to be used for much larger forms and complex inserts, without the worry of the glue setting before the substrates are brought together.

Tecbond 1X

Tecbond 1X is a woodworking and packaging adhesive designed to bond cardboard, paper, and wood substrates. Tecbond 1X has been specifically formulated to have a lower viscosity than many other market comparable adhesives, resulting in better surface penetration and tighter final joints.

Alongside tighter joints, Tecbond 1X’s low viscosity provides excellent output when used in conjunction with Tec applicators.

Tecbond 523

Tecbond 523 is a pale amber, economical, v-groove adhesive for plasterboard and drywall fabrication. The adhesive provides a good balance of adhesion, working time and output to ensure a solid bond, while decreasing working times when compared to tapes, tacks, and screws.

The adhesives viscosity allows it to effectively flow in the porous surface of the plasterboard, while its molten tack removes the need for extended holding or clamping periods. The finished bond is so strong, the plasterboard will break before the bond does.

Casttec 47

Casttec 47 is a pale amber, extended open time precast adhesive designed for environments where the ambient working temperature is high. This means it can be applied, allowed to set and then be cleanly removed at temperatures close to 40°C.
